The Suzuki GS series was pretty much Suzuki's first venture into 4-stroke machines after previously almost exclusively producing 2 stroke bikes. Starting with the four cylinder GS750 and the GS400 parallel twin in 1976, the GS750 engine became the design basis for all the air cooled Suzuki four-stroke fours. The popular GS range grew as the years passed, with the GS550cc, the GS1000 and GS1200SS added and then the little single cylinder GS125. The GS series had a bike to cover every base.
