Triumph to launch national dealer apprenticeship scheme
training up the mechanics of tomorrow
This could well be the way forward – giving folks practical and useful skills which will help them to get good jobs and benefit the motorcycle industry to boot. The scheme is government funded so participants will earn money while they are training.
UK Triumph, is pledging its support to the future of the industry, by participating in the national dealer apprenticeship programme.
Hinckley-based Triumph is calling for budding technicians to apply for the scheme, which will see 12 apprentices – from dealerships across the country – undertake expert training with skilled motorcycle mechanics.
In fine Fettle
The course will run for three years and during that time each apprentice will spend around six weeks at Triumph’s purpose-built training workshops. The rest of their training will be hands on at their local dealerships. On completion of the course each participant will be fully ATA-accredited with a City & Guilds qualification in Motor Vehicle Engineering. The course gives young technicians a grounding in technology, enables them to diagnose and repair problems and become familiar with key financial management and legal principles.
Rick Cawley, UK general manager at Triumph, commented:
“As one of the most well-known names in motorcycling, we recognise the importance of supporting our dealerships and growing new talent. Our apprenticeship program will give young technicians the best of both worlds, allowing them to earn money while gaining vital qualifications.
“We feel this new scheme will go a long way to securing the future of the industry, with key skills preserved in the next generation of technicians. So, if you’d like to be part of the scheme, get in touch!”
The government-funded scheme is recruiting now, with the first intake due to start in November.
