Snow Business

Triumph's Ice Bike

John Newman

Image
I missed this one when wandering the Triumph stand at the NEC show. Triumph has information about forthcoming winter weather some of us may not have heard about.

They have created this 'ice bike'. Complete with spiked rear tyre and a front end converted to a ski blade mounted on a modified suspension. It's also equipped with an array of LED lights and has an emergency rescue kit comprising a collapsible shovel and an ice pick. We're not sure whether this is to dig yourself out of a snow drift or to come to the aid of hapless 4x4 drivers.

Is this a one-off model or is Triumph intent on marketing this in countries where regular winter snowfall might make it a useful tool? If so, heated seat and grips might be a useful part of the specification.
