Say Hello to 83

John is running the hill!

If you live within striking and biking distance of Cheltenham, get yourself along to the Prescott Bike Festival on Sunday 12th April, and while you're there say hello to our feature writer John Newman who will be 'running the hill' on his four cylinder 1988 (we think) Yamaha FZR250.

The festival is built around the hill climb course owned by The Bugatti Owners Club, and over the past few years the organisers of the bike festival, Severn Freewheelers, who are part of the national blood bikes association, have built the Prescott festival into a major event in the spring motorcycling calendar.

Located in a delightful rural valley, it provides a really attractive setting for the crowds who gather to watch all types of machinery attack the hill: from serious dudes on super motards, to regular road bikes, to classic bikes, to three wheelers and sidecars. It's big fun and everything is accessible.

They're also promising a hundred exhibitors, a hundred rare racing bikes, the Dave Coates stunt show and a clutch of biking 'celebs' including Carl Fogarty, John Reynolds, Steve Parrish, Nick Sanders, and David Hailwood, son of Mike.

As we publish this John is still waiting to collect his bike from the special restoration outfit who have been getting it into shape. So he'll not have much time to learn how to ride this little screamer, whose power is located in the 8 to 14 thousand rpm range. Could be interesting or embarrassing...Paddy Power will give you short odds on the latter.

In the paddock John will have some Wemoto goodies to give away including the 'famous' neck tubes.

Details of how to reach the site are on the festival website www.prescottbikefestival.co.uk See you there!
