It's the Pits
Motorsport Winter School at Donington Park
John Newman
Successful students will be able to complete a course at Donington Park, set up by the Motorsport Industry Association and the Motorsport Technical School of Monza, to train mechanics who wish to learn and practice the skills and expertise required to be part of the race team.
The programme begins in November 2016, consists of 160 hours of learning over twelve weekends and is a mix of practical, theory and classroom learning taught by current race bike (and race car) mechanics. It will also provide the opportunity to work on bikes that will be currently entered in major race series, and will also involve visits to race teams.
The top five students are guaranteed a six-month placement with a professional team.
It doesn't come cheap. The course fee is £2,950 and this does not include accommodation at or near Donington Park or transport costs. But if you think this is a worthwhile investment a £200 deposit is payable on booking, which is refundable if not accepted.
