Change of race venue for Michael Dunlop as he signs up for the Daytona 200
Not long till mid March and the US Daytona 200 is one of the races which will be running this year
Michael Dunlop is one of the fastest road racers out there, proving himself with 19 wins at the Isle of Man TT, following in his famous uncle Joey Dunlop's (26 IOMTT wins) footsteps.
Most of the usual road races like the Isle of Man TT couldn't run last year due to Covid 19 and many may still be adversely affected again in 2021. This is why quite a few hardcore motorcycle road racers are doing things differently this year and signing up for the US Daytona 200 in Florida which looks like being one race which will run despite the odds. Not traditionally particularly popular with international racers, a change is as good as a rest, and the Daytona 200 has pulled in some successful motorcycle racers from around the globe this year.
The 2021 race will run as part of Daytona bike Week on March 13th 2021 at Daytona International Speedway using the 3.51 mile infield road course. It will be interesting to see how Dunlop fares in this new, rather different for him, race setting.
