Are you the world's best BMW GS rider?
Here's your chance to prove it
INTERNATIONAL GS TROPHY BRITISH QUALIFIER
Fancy a weekend with fellow GS enthusiasts showing off or honing your riding skills? Then why not register to take part in the International GS Trophy British Qualifier, taking place in South Wales on May 28th-29th.
The weekend will see you in the company of hundreds of fellow GS owners. You'll be riding, navigating, camping, and competing in the beautiful Welsh mountains.
Registration is £99, with training courses available at an extra cost.
All riders are welcome, inexperienced or experienced, excluding professional riders. This is to be a fair competition, after all. The prize? The best riders from the weekend will gain a place in the International GS Trophy 2018. A week-long battle between teams from around the globe to be crowned the world's best GS riders.
BMW has held an International GS Trophy every two years since 2008. Its next one will be held in Mongolia. For those who're worried about the costs involved, don't be. The winners of the Qualifier will be flown to Mongolia, fully kitted with equipment. Oh, and with a brand-new personalised BMW R 1200 GS to use for the duration of the competition.
The Qualifier itself will consist of events and challenges for which each entrant will get points. The three riders with the highest number of points at the end of the weekend wins. These winners will then make up the British team for the final in Mongolia.
INTERNATIONAL GS TROPHY
Men and women will compete like-for-like at the Qualifier, rather than in separate categories. But due to the overwhelming majority of men in the event, women will receive a second chance at winning a place in the final. The top two women who didn't reach 1st-3rd place overall will move on to a second heat, the International Female Qualifier. The winners of which will make the International GS Trophy all-female Team for the final. Got that? You'll find more details at the end of the article if not.
This is the second time BMW has constructed an all-female team. To further encourage female participation, the first 20 women who enter the British Qualifier do so for free.
The International GS Trophy 2018 is set to be one of the biggest off-road challenges in the world. Positions will be highly sought-after, and only those who've earned it will be able to compete.
Regardless, the Qualifier is a fun-for-all event and is highly recommended for all GS fans. It'll see you spending time with like-minded people while you do one of your favourite activities. Riding your GS.
